Uptown Sandy Girl continued to prove her dominance for owner/breeder Uptown Arabians in the $30,000 Texas Arabian Stallion Stakes (G3) for fillies/mares. Uptown Sandy Girl, a six-year-old mare by Burning Sandy and out of the Hall of Fame mare, Wilbwilcca, once again cemented not only her place as the leading contender for Darley Older Mare but also as a probable Darley Horse of the Year nominee for the second year in a row. Dance With Me BW was the only other entry to challenge Uptown Sandy Girl but finished second best. RB Gaim Changer rounded out the top three. Uptown Sandy Girl is trained by Glen Rottweiler and was ridden by Jose Garcia.
Two races later came the open division for the $30,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes (G3), where we witnessed the grand patriarch, Paddys Day, follow up his win at the UAE President Cup (G1) with a win in this final graded stakes event of the year for Arabian racing in the United States for owner/breeder Jane Teutsch. The veteran nine-year-old stallion enjoyed a clean trip on the rail as he bested the field by three lengths over 2019 Darley Horse of the Year Quick Sand AA. RB Rich Lyke Me finished third. This win will likely see Paddys Day not only up for Darley Older Horse but also Darley Horse of the Year, which if he was crowned the latter, would be an unprecedented fourth Horse of the Year title for the star runner. Paddys Day is trained by Nicole Ruggeri and ridden by Ivan Arellano.
