Multiple Darley Award Champion Mare Dream Pearl's little sister stole the show in the $30,000 TX Arabian Oaks (G2) this past Saturday at Retama Park. At just three years old, the talented Pearls Spirit AA is now three-for-three in her three lifetime starts since July 14, 2022.
RB Muchie dueled for the lead with RB Madeline Kate until Pearls Spirit AA split rivals in the upper stretch and gained the lead to win by 3 1/2 lengths over WMA Big Baby.
Pearls Spirit AA is by Burning Sand and out of Triumphs Silkie. She is bred and owned by Joe & Betty Gillis' Allegro Arabians under jockey Francisco Giles for trainer Jerenesto Torrez.
Final time for the one mile event was 1:53.93.
Three races later, the $30,000 TX Arabian Derby, a Grade 2 stake for open company, witnessed the four-year-old Madjani son, Uptown Manontop, wire the field in an impressive performance under jockey Victor Urieta, Jr. for trainer Carlos Padilla and owners/breeders Jon & Krista Henningsgard of Uptown Arabians.
The four-year-old gelding by Madjani and out of Top Thess set the pace before holding off RB Rathowayne to win by 1 3/4 lengths. This is the first graded stakes win for Uptown Manontop. Final time for the one mile event was 1:59.83.
