Consider Thess Takes the first 2021 Wathba Stallions Cup Race in Texas

TABA congratulates the winning connections of Consider Thess for taking the first Wathba Stallions Cup in Texas, held this past Thursday evening at Sam Houston Race Course. The 6-year-old mare by Dahess and out of In Awe Dit (by Nivour De Cardonne) is bred and owned by the notable Cre Run Enterprises, Deb Mihaloff and Alan Kirshner. She was trained by Rhonda Tuley and ridden to victory by Jose Olivo.


Consider Thess staked the pace while inside into the turn, rallied and was two wide in the stretch and powered to the front in the late stretch over Highh Maintenance in the end. The gutsy mare won by 2 1/2 lengths, with a final time of 1:20.50 going six furlongs. Highh Maintenance was second, and Big Purity was third.


Offered $5,000 Added to the already solid purse of $12,000, the Wathba Stallions Cup series is a part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Flat Racing Festival. The Festival is currently set to sponsor two upcoming races at Sam Houston as part of the Wathba Stallions Cup series, starting this Thursday, July 8th, with a second race on July 29th. The Wathba Stallions Cup will continue at Lone Star Park this fall with two additional races as well.
